PEDIATRIC CHIROPRACTOR NORTH BAY

A Strong Foundation From Their First Days Forward

As a parent, you want to know your child is in good hands. At Landriault Chiropractic, pediatric care is one of my favourite parts of what we do. From newborns to teens, we help children grow on a strong nervous system foundation through gentle, age-appropriate chiropractic care.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe for My Baby?

Pediatric chiropractic adjustments are nothing like what you might have seen in a video online. There’s no cracking, no popping, no twisting.

For babies, we use gentle fingertip pressure; about the same amount you’d use to test the ripeness of a tomato. Most babies stay calm through their adjustment, some sleep through it.

For older kids and teens, the adjustment is adapted to their size and what they’re comfortable with. Sometimes gentle hands-on work, sometimes an instrument we use that the kids call “the jackhammer” because it tickles.

As Dr. Jayla says: “I always show parents exactly what I’m going to do before I do it, and I never adjust a child unless mom or dad has had every question answered first.”

“I highly recommend Landriault Chiropractic“

“Myself, my husband, and my kids have all seen Dr. Jayla. She has lots of experience and helped me with my concerns (motherhood related).

We have all also been seen by Dr. Landriault when Dr. Jayla was away, and his care was just as good. 10/10 best chiropractors in town.“

Building a Strong Nervous System From Day One

In your child’s first two years, their nervous system develops more than it ever will again in their lifetime. Every roll, every crawl, every step they take is the nervous system practicing: learning how to coordinate the body, how to adapt, how to grow.

What we’re focused on as pediatric chiropractors in North Bay is helping that foundation form well.

The spine and the nervous system work together. The spine protects the nervous system, but it also feeds it information. Every joint movement sends signals to the brain about what’s happening in the body. When areas of the spine aren’t moving the way they should, those signals get distorted. The nervous system has to work harder to make sense of the input it’s getting, and the body has to compensate.

In a growing child, that compensation can quietly shape how they develop.

Our goal is to find those areas of tension early, while their nervous system is still highly adaptable, so your child can grow on a strong, sturdy foundation rather than working around something their body has had to adapt to.

Newborns to Walking (0–12 Months)

For babies, gentle is everything. Until your child is up and walking, usually somewhere between 9 and 14 months, we use the lightest fingertip pressure to address areas of tension. There’s no instrument adjusting at this age.

Often, your baby will be in your arms or lying on a small mat between us while we work. Many parents are surprised by how quiet the whole process is. We even see babies who sleep through the entire visit.

  • A check-up in the first weeks after birth
  • Breastfeeding or latch difficulties
  • Persistent fussiness or unsettled feeding
  • Head tilt or favouring one direction
  • Concerns about milestones (rolling, sitting, crawling)
  • Recurring colic, reflux, or digestive issues
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Recurring ear infections
  • Constipation or irregular bowel movements

Childhood (1–12 Years)

Once your child is weight-bearing, walking, running, climbing, we have more options. For toddlers, we often use a small instrument called the ArthroStim. The kids call it “the jackhammer” because it makes a gentle vibrating sound and tickles a bit.

They tend to love it. As your child gets older, we’ll mix in gentle hands-on adjustments depending on what they prefer and what their body needs that day.

  • Growing pains in the legs or back
  • Recurring headaches
  • Posture concerns from school or devices
  • Sports activity, injury recovery, or performance support
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Focus and attention concerns
  • Behavioural patterns affecting daily life
  • After a fall or significant impact
  • Constipation or digestive challenges

“I tried everything: physio, massage, even chiro. I met Dr. L at a trade show and his attentive nature took me back. I set up my initial assessment and haven’t looked back. I even have my wife and kid going now. I get a true family vibe.”

Teenager receives back adjustment

Teens (13–18 Years)

Teenagers have their own preferences and their own opinions, and we respect that. We always ask teenage patients what they want, whether manual adjustments or the instruments, and we adjust based on what makes them comfortable.

They’re often dealing with a lot at once: growth spurts, sports, hours hunched over phones and laptops, and rising stress. Helping their nervous system stay regulated through all of it makes a real difference.

  • Growth spurt-related discomfort
  • Sports recovery and athletic performance
  • Posture concerns from device use
  • Recurring headaches
  • Stress and tension
  • Back, neck, or shoulder discomfort

What Your Child’s First Visit Looks Like

Described in Dr. Preston’s own words, from her firsthand experience

Step 1: The Consultation

Every first visit starts in the consultation room. We’Il review your paperwork and then we’ll talk. I want to hear about your concerns, the pregnancy and birth, how feeding has been going, sleep, milestones, anything you’ve noticed. There are no rushed conversations here. Your time with me is yours.

Step 2: The Hands-On Assessment

Next, we’ll move your child to a small adjusting table where I do a gentle physical assessment. I check their reflexes, look for areas of tension along the spine, and assess for things like functional tongue tie that can quietly affect feeding and development. Mom and dad stay right there. Nothing happens that you can’t see, and I’ll explain what I’m checking for as I go.

Step 3: The Thermal Scan

From there, our office manager Julie takes your child for a thermal scan: what we lovingly call “the monster truck” because it’s a small, non-invasive instrument with two little wheels that roll up the spine. It picks up areas of tension in the nervous system that I can’t detect with my hands alone. We do three scans for accuracy, and you’ll get a printed copy to take home.

Step 4: The Report Visit

Within 24 to 48 hours, you’ll come back for what we call the report visit. I’ll walk you through what the scans showed, what I found in the assessment, and what I’d recommend. You’ll get every question answered and a clear plan you can decide on at your own pace. Adjustments only begin after you’ve had time to digest everything and given full informed consent.

About Dr. Jayla Preston

I grew up in chiropractic. My dad, Dr. Tom Preston, has been a chiropractor in North Bay for over 40 years, and I’ve been adjusted since the day I was born. Years before that, my dad treated a young athlete in town who was thinking about giving up on sports because of an injury. That patient was Rob Landriault. He fell in love with chiropractic, became a chiropractor himself, and years later, when I’d finished chiropractic school, he opened up a space for me at Landriault Chiropractic.

I’ve built my practice around babies, children, and pregnant women, and I serve families throughout North Bay and the surrounding communities. From West Ferris to Pinewood, from Marshall Park to Trout Lake, our office is centrally located and easy to reach. We also welcome families from Callander, Powassan, Corbeil, Astorville, and Sturgeon Falls.

If you’re looking for a pediatric chiropractor in North Bay who takes the time to understand your child before recommending care, I’d love to meet you.

A few months ago, I was in so much pain from my neck all the way down to my lower back. The pain became so bad that I could barely sleep, and even turning in bed was difficult. My sleep was constantly disrupted, and the pain was affecting my everyday life and even my mood. I was frustrated, exhausted, and honestly getting to the point where I felt like I couldn’t handle it anymore. I even went to my doctor in tears because I was struggling so much with the pain. One day, I was talking to my coworker Lorraine about my back pain, and she told me about her experience at Landriault Chiropractic. She had been dealing with pain herself and spoke so highly of the clinic and how much better she felt. Hearing about her experience gave me hope, so I didn’t hesitate—I called and made an appointment. I honestly couldn’t believe the difference. By my third visit, I started noticing a BIG change. I don’t know what kind of magic Dr. Robert was doing, but I could feel my body improving! 😂❤️ The pain that had been controlling my life was finally getting better. Now, I can honestly say that I’m feeling so much better. I’m sleeping well again, I can move and turn without the same pain, and I feel like I have my life back. It’s hard to explain how grateful I am to finally have relief after struggling for so long. A huge THANK YOU to Dr. Robert and the entire team at Landriault Chiropractic for the care, kindness, and professionalism. I’m so thankful my coworker recommended this clinic to me! If you’re struggling with neck or back pain and looking for a chiropractor, I highly recommend Landriault Chiropractic. My experience has been absolutely wonderful, and I’m so happy I made that first phone call. ❤️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you, Dr. Robert, for helping me get back to sleeping, moving, and feeling like myself again!

Dr Landriault is absolutely incredible! I have suffered migraines for most of my life and was very nervous about chiropractic care. Several people recommended him to me and so I made an appointment for assessment. The staff are so kind and welcoming. The initial tests and scans were gentle. Every step was explained and i learned so much. I have not had a headache since my first adjustment, this has been life changing! Thank you dr Landriault!

What Parents Ask Us Most Often

Yes. Pediatric adjustments are nothing like adult chiropractic care. For babies, I use gentle fingertip pressure, about the amount you’d use to check if a tomato is ripe. There’s no cracking, no popping, no twisting. Most babies stay calm through their adjustment, and many sleep through it.
There’s no minimum age. Some parents bring their newborns in within the first days or weeks after birth, especially if there are concerns about feeding, sleep, or comfort. Earlier is often better, the nervous system is most adaptable in the first few months.
It’s gentle enough that many babies don’t notice it. Imagine the lightest pressure of a fingertip; that’s roughly what I’m using. There’s nothing forceful, and I show parents exactly what I’ll do before I do it. You’re with your baby the whole time.
Sometimes the signs are obvious: head tilt, recurring colic, sleep difficulties, growing pains. Sometimes they’re subtle: milestone delays, posture concerns, focus issues. The honest answer is, we’ll know after the assessment. The first visit is about figuring out what’s going on, not committing to anything.
It depends entirely on what we find. Every plan is built around your child’s specific needs and goals, there’s no template. We’ll walk you through everything at the report visit, and you’ll have a clear plan before any adjustments begin.
That’s completely normal, and we work around it. Some kids are adjusted while mom holds them. Some sit on the table facing a parent. Some lay down. There’s no script, and there’s no rush. We go at your child’s pace.
Yes, and we make it a priority not to keep families on a waitlist. If your child needs care, we want to see them as soon as possible.
